Fall celebrations are in full effect. The trees are starting to change color. The landscape is ripe with rosy reds, fantastic yellows and scrumptious oranges. Nighttime temperatures are dropping, but the days are still sunny and fabulous. It’s the perfect time, this season between summer and winter, to embark on an RV adventure. If you’ve always wanted to travel by RV but have been putting it off, check out a nearby dealership or an on-line dealership for fall specials. Get out and enjoy. Fall always disappears too quickly.
Top Four List of Fall Fun Adventures:
1. Is fall called fall because the leaves fall from the trees? Nuts fall, pinecones fall, everything seems to fall in this season, but before it does, it seems to reflect all the brightness of the summer sun in the changing of the leaves. From maple, to oak, to aspen, to scrub brush, it seems as if the world is alight in color. If you’re stumped as to where the best places to view fall colors are, give a call to the Forest Service’s fall color hotline – 800-354-4595. The Foliage Network and Yankee Foliage both offer information on the turning of colors and scenic landscapes to view them in.
2. Halloween screams fall. Witches, goblins and ghouls come out at night to spook innocent trick-or-treaters. For the most authentic experience, gather around a campfire under glittering stars and tell ghost stories. Get dressed up and join RV campgrounds for their Halloween celebrations. Some offer scream contests and more.
3. Oktoberfest. Next to St. Patrick’s Day, there’s not better reason to sample many a delicious beer. Brat eating contests are popular. Dress up in traditional German clothing and dance to a German band. Even if you aren’t German it’s fun to pretend for a day.
4. Music Festivals. Enjoy incredible outdoor music festivals including Arizona’s Bisbee Blues Festival, Sept 25th, Idaho’s Sun Valley Jazz Jamboree Oct 13-17, Nevada’s Bluegrass Festival Oct 8-10, Oregon’s Medford Jazz Festival, Oct 8-10 and Washington’s Irish Music Festival. Music festivals are one of the best ways to introduce kids to music. There’s often different types of food and people to experience as well as the music. Bring a blanket and get comfortable.
Fall will be gone before you know it. So pack up the RV. If you’ve been driving all summer, be sure to pop in to an RV dealer and have a quick RV check-up before you head back on the road for fall’s spectacular scenery.
Right now blue skies, campfires and colorful landscapes are waiting. Pretend you’re a kid, seeing it all for the first time. Close your eyes and inhale. This is fall and this is beautiful.
